Time to Say Goodbye to Park Rent

It’s Time to Say Goodbye to Park Rent

🏡 Let’s Have a Talk About the Words We Use…

For decades, the terms trailer park and mobile home have slowly been replaced by more accurate, respectful language—manufactured home and community. And for good reason: today’s manufactured homes are well-built, HUD-certified since 1976, and located in clean, desirable 55+ communities like Longview Hills in Newport, Oregon.

But there’s still one term that needs to evolve: Park Rent.

❌ Why “Park Rent” No Longer Fits

The phrase park rent suggests temporary living, instability, and outdated thinking. It simply doesn’t reflect the quality or value of what manufactured homeowners are actually paying for each month.

✅ Introducing the “Resident Ownership Fee” (ROF)

At Pacific Coast Homes, we’re proud to be using the term, Resident Ownership Fee (ROF).

Much like HOA fees in condo or golf course communities, the ROF represents your monthly contribution to shared amenities, land upkeep, and the overall lifestyle you enjoy in a managed community. Here’s what your ROF often includes:

  • Professional community management

  • Clubhouse and common area maintenance

  • Security features like gated access

  • Well-maintained landscaping and streets

  • No property taxes on the land

🏡 It’s About Respecting the Lifestyle

Manufactured Home Communities offer security, affordability, and an elevated lifestyle—especially for active 55+ adults. Calling it a Resident Ownership Fee puts the focus where it belongs: on the benefits and the pride of ownership.

Let’s leave “park rent” in the past. It’s time to start calling it what it really is: an investment in your community and quality of life.
